Electronics Testing and Hardware Evidence Engineering

Independent bench testing for NZ electronics, hardware, and manufacturing firms. We characterise your device and write the signed test report so you can take it to investors, IPONZ, or a certifier. No accredited lab overheads — independent evidence engineering for the design stage and beyond.

Who this is for

Electronics and hardware firms

You need bench testing, characterisation data, or pre-compliance evidence for a product at design stage or pre-launch. We produce the engineering evidence — you take it to the next gate.

Patent applicants

IPONZ and overseas patent offices require reproducible, characterised test results. We produce test reports in the format patent attorneys ask for.

Investors and certifiers

You need performance data that stands up to external review, written in engineering language. We document methodology, conditions, and results so any engineer can verify them.

Prototype and pre-series teams

You need to prove your prototype works before committing to tooling or a larger production run. We validate and characterise at bench scale.

Pre-compliance and bench testing

Pre-compliance testing is bench-level electronics testing done at design stage, before submitting to an accredited lab. Catching issues early is cheaper than discovering them after tooling. We are not an accredited EMC lab and do not issue accredited certification reports. What we do is independent design-stage characterisation and pre-compliance evidence work — the bench testing that reduces the cost and risk of accredited certification when you get there.

Prototype characterisation

Device behaviour mapped across voltage, temperature, load, or frequency ranges. Documented for patent annexures or investor data rooms.

Pre-compliance EMC bench testing

Emissions and susceptibility checks at bench level. Identify problems before accredited lab submission. Recognised industry practice for design-stage electronics.

Reliability and stress testing

Operating margin, thermal, and load-cycle testing. Evidence that your device performs across conditions, not just at nominal.

What you get

Signed test report

A formal engineering document describing methodology, conditions, results, and conclusions. Ready for IPONZ, investor data rooms, or certifiers.

Raw data package

Measurement files, oscilloscope captures, and log exports. Everything required for independent verification by any engineer.

Characterisation evidence

Device behaviour mapped across the relevant parameter space. Suitable for patent annexures, investor data rooms, and pre-certification preparation.

In-house test engineer vs contract testing

A salaried test engineer in NZ runs to around $80k-$100k per year before equipment, bench space, and setup time. A contract test engagement costs a fraction of that for the evidence you actually need, with no ongoing overhead. For early-stage hardware work where test needs are episodic, contracting the evidence production is usually the right call. We can start before you have filled a test role — and hand over a clean evidence pack when you do.

How it works

Fixed-scope, phased. Deposit required before bench work begins. Each phase is priced and agreed before it starts. Typical engagement range: $750 to $9k per phase depending on device complexity.

Signed report with raw data delivered. Review session included. Revision round if required.

Engineering background

This work draws on engineering discipline carried over from high-reliability radio communications work at Tait Communications in Christchurch. AcesForge is founded by Toby Bell-Ramsay, a former test engineer at Tait and recipient of the Steven Bly Award for best product or solution development, 2025. The same instrumented, documented approach applied to radio systems is applied to your electronics testing and characterisation evidence.
